Music Monday Download

Disney's Robin Hood was one of my favorites as a child.  It's one that will be on the dvd list that I want to get for Mr. B.  My brother found this remake of Not in Nottingham by Mumford and Sons and I love it!
I've included the original Disney version below (to jog your memory--fast forward to about 0:40 for the beginning of the song) and then the Mumford and Sons version.

Shiver Me Timbers

Here's a little joke for you.
"What movies do pirates watch?"
....Ones that are rated "aRRRRRg"
Pardon my Friday morning cheesiness

We really don't buy lots of toys for Beckett.
Most everything he plays with, he got from Santa Claus or for his birthday.
Sometimes randomly, I'll pick up something I know he'll love, but for the
most part, he sticks to the piles of toys he's gotten over the last year.
However......while Chad and I had him out on Saturday shopping, I spotted this
Little Tykes pirate ship.  It's a riding toy and was only $35, so we got it.
How cute is this?!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho a pirates life for me!

Happy Friday, everyone.
Bring on the weekend!

DIY Stripe Panels

I've been doing some design consulting with a girl in Texas for the last few months.
She's transforming her (already beautiful) home from the tired garnets, golds and greens into
clean neutrals and updated patterns and prints.
I've had a lot of fun emailing back and forth with her.  My only problem is, she's in Texas, I'm in
South Cackalacky and I can tell just from emailing she's a blast.
She already has fantastic taste, she just wanted my help and a little guidance.
She's been dying for striped panels and when her (and my) search fell short, she
opted to make her own!
I couldn't wait to share her d.i.y. with everyone!
White Ikea panels + frog tape + leftover paint
= Ultra fab custom drapes for the dining room!
Here's the finished product!
How gorgeous, right?

Thanks for letting letting me share your gorgeous drapes Brandy!

When all else fails, just paint your own....

Lunch Break - Localized Shopping

My lunch break shopping posts are usually about furniture stores but I was in dire, DIRE
need of some new spring attire so I thought I'd share my new duds!
Last week I hit my favorite locally owned shops on Devine Street.
Here's what came home with me.
Flowy aqua breezy top from Just The Thing.
JTT is my favorite shop in Columbia.
They carry all kinds of gifts, fabulous jewelry, handbags,
accessories and now shoes and clothes.
This shirt is a huge favorite in the shop and comes in
a few different prints and colors.
I can't wait to pair this with cuffed shorts or white jeans with
wedges this spring and summer!
I then ran into M Boutique to see what was new.
I fell in love with this multi-colored top.
Had to have it!
Pardon the wrinkles, I wore this one to work on Friday.
This garnet shell was on sale for only $20!

If you've never dropped into either of these stores, you really should.
I always find something unique that I love and can wear forever.

Phone-y

I'm going to have to apologize.  I've been a slack blogger lately.  The last two weeks have been
chock full.  We've all caught the stomach bug and I had a huge deadline at work this week.
Hopefully, life can get back to SEMI-normal pretty soon.
For now, please bear with me....
Here's the last few days through the lens of my iphone.
I'm a phoney, what can I say?
Mom has some beautiful oaks in her yard.
Uncle Beau sent me this picture while I was out shopping one afternoon.
We didn't get to go out for dinner this weekend as planned, so I made my own wedge.
It was okay.  I just think food tastes better when I'm not the one who prepared it.
Loves to ride.
Rocking out in the backseat
Sweet snuggle bug
I love my new Tervis water bottle!
They now have them at the Oops Company.
Broke down and bought a new bag.
I got tired of carrying a diaper bag + a purse.
This one's so big I can put another purse inside it along with diapers, wipes,
my day planner, etc. etc. etc.
I got it from Boulevard Bags.
It's HUGE!!!!
Nappy Naperson
He loves balancing things.
He's actually pretty darn good at it!

Happy Sunday!

Party in My Tummy

I've held off on letting Mr. B feed himself because I valued my curtains and furniture too much to see them stained by thrown food.
These pictures speak volumes.
Here's a little glimpse of dinnertime.
Most of the time, he turns down what I put in front of him, but he never
turns down yogurt.

Favorites of the moment:
John Deere ABC book
Baa Baa Blacksheep book
Wooden Puzzles
Singing ABC's along with us (well, trying to...)

Favorite words:
Apple = "Aooouhhl"
monkey = "muuhhheyy"
moon = "mooooo"
guitar = "geeee -ta"  (I ask him to repeat this over and over because it cracks
me up when he draws the geeee out so long)
Uh Oh
Mama and Dada are sometimes substituted with 'mommy' or 'daddy'
Thank you = "Dank ooo"
paci = "pa-di"

He loves to point out things on the way to and from daycare everyday.
Cows, buses, cars, birds, you name it, he spots it!

Hope everyone has a fun weekend.
Happy Friday!

Music Monday Dowload

Sorry for the major lack of posts.  Talk about needin' a break!
Chad and I (and my brother) all battled the stomach virus this weekend after I wrapped up a nightmare of a week last week.  I can't say enough how much I loathe tax season and all that has to do with my day job during the months of March and April.
Here's another wacky video.  This isn't a new one but it's a favorite and it puts me in a good mood.

Sick

I knew it was coming.  It was completely inevitable.  Everyone's had it and I crossed my fingers it wouldn't hit my household (or at least spare my child) but we weren't so lucky.
I'm talking about the dreaded stomach bug.  There isn't much on earth I hate more than throwing up.  I HATE it!  I had my wisdom teeth (that were fused to my jaw bone) hammered out of my mouth while I was completely awake for fear that the anesthesia would make me sick.  I revert to a two year old and call my mommy in the middle of the night to come take care of me when I'm throwing up.  Anything else, I can handle, but throwing up, fuggetaboutit.  Beckett had the dreaded bug yesterday and threw up all day long.  Never have I ever actually wished to throw up instead of someone else.  He would cry and say mommy over and over.  Ugh!  Just stomp on my heart!  Poor, poor, sweet boy.
I haven't gotten it YET but I know it's on the way.  Chad's been washing hands, clothes, and bleaching surfaces while I hug and kiss on Mr. germy.  Who cares!  I can't NOT give my baby extra love when he's sick.
My little angel sleeping away yesterday after I picked him up from daycare.
I promise I'm not putting Latisse on those lashes.

I hope everyone is having a good week and is staying germ free!
I'm preparing for my turn with the germ....I know it's coming.....
At least Mr. B is on the mend now.

Happy Thursday!

Lunch Break Shopping - Pier one

I really like Pier One.
Among all the hodge podge of randomness and scents, you'll
find some really great stuff.
I ventured in with a mission.
Mom and I saw this PB lookalike online and I wanted to check it out
in person since it was a comparable
style but mucho cheaper.
Verdict:  D-
It may look like a good copy of PB's Seagrass Wingback, but the
back and arms are very unsturdy and it wasn't very substantial in size.
The $299 price tag = You get what you pay for.
Spring for the real deal
If you want the seagrass look, this one is much sturdier.
I have these in my breakfast nook and love them.
Even though they don't have the lovely wingback shape, they're
much better made and are close to the same price.
Love the shape.  Great for flanking a mantle or as an accent piece.
On clearance
$199.99
More great chairs. Check out this seersucker beauty.
Love the tufting.
You can't see it in the picture, but the bottom edge has a beautiful oversize
nailhead detail.
So gorgeous......yet so prone to dirt....this chair is only for people
without toddlers in the house.
Or husbands......
or dogs.....
or anyone that spills or is overly clumsy....
or pretty much anyone normal.
Oh well, pretty to look at, right?
Here's a closeup:
$479.95
 Sorry for the blur.
Need a new lamp AND a sunburst in your life?
These lamps are fantabulous, huge and luxe-looking.
I adore the sunburst mirror lamp.
This picture doesn't do it justice.  The lampshade is beautiful too and HUGE!
I'm such a sucker for lamps.
$99
Great small tufted sofa for a small space.
Another luxe-looking piece.
LOVE the tufting.
Clearance
$399
Mirror accents
$149
LOOOOOOOVE!
The shade has a nailhead detail.
I die!
$125
Bone-look mosaic mirror.
I'd love to see this as a bathroom vanity mirror.
Gorg!
$199
Lots of great bleached rattan seating options.
Bar and counter height stools
$149 and $139
Dining Chair
$99
Sawhorse desk: $169
My imaginary self is outfitting my imaginary office.
How great would this be with that white leather desk chair from
Marshall's I saw a few weeks ago?
Always good mirror options at the pier!
HUGE lamp.  This would probably go
*crash* in my house.
$125
Need a garden stool?
They have 'em.
Price tag is a bit hefty when you can find them just about anywhere these days.
$99
Bright colors don't usually spark my interest,
but I really loved the color combo.
$449
Mercury glass option.
Large and in charge!
$150
They had some furniture on clearance.
I've always liked these white side tables.
$259
This lamp is great for a hint of glamour, although that
santiny lampshade is a bit too bordello for my taste.
The heftiest price tag in the lamp section.
$299

Overall, I love the new lamp selections.
Big impact and the prices aren't terribly bad.

Happy Tuesday!
