Out and About - What I Didn't Buy

One of my top resolutions for this year is to give my wallet a break.  TJ Maxx and Marshalls are like
crack to me.  My heart starts to flutter and I break out in a cold sweat right before I walk through the door.  There's nothing I enjoy more than finding something muuuuuuch cheaper.
When people compliment me on something in my house or that I'm wearing, instead of just saying "thank you," I respond with the price, where I got it, and if they still have it in stock.
It's a sickness, I know, but instead of loading myself down with items I really don't need, here's what I spotted.......just in case YOU need it!

First stop: Marshalls:
I reeeeally wanted one of these pitchers.
($7.99)
These would be fantastic on a coutertop to store
wooden cooking utensils.
This mirror was on clearance for $20.
I love the frame and the graphic pattern, although I'd probably
paint it white.
Loved these orange zebra lamps ($39?)
Even though I'm not a huge fan of the print....
I love the shape of this bench.  They had a similar one that I
saw later at TJ Maxx in a charcoal grey.
Fantastic addition for the end of a bed
or foyer. ($99)
Beautiful console or desk.  Love the color!
I'm such a sucker for white serveware
I love the scalloped bowl in the back ($14.99)
If you're in the market for one of the hanging baskets like mine, you're in luck.
Both Marshall's and TJs had plenty of them in different finishes ($19.99)
When did Kate Spade get here?
$49.99/King.
Cute shower curtain
Clearance: $10.00
Black medallion pillow on clearance: $7
Mercury glass-ish lamp
Clearance $20
Harbison TJ Maxx
Ohhhhh la la!
I LOOOOOOVE these mirrored chests as bedside tables.
2 sizes.  The large was $279, the smaller on the right was $179.
Yes please!
This reminds me a LOT of my foyer mirror from Ballard....
Don't go running out the door just yet, this one is about the size of a dinner plate
but would be a great addition for a small wall or corner.
($16.99)
Love the nailhead detail ($279)
And Serena and Lily?  When did YOU get here??!!!
On the clearance rack for $20.  STILL out of my price range.....
Harbison Ross:
Very cute flower pots that would look SO good on my porch.
They had all sizes, the medallion size was $5.99!
Rattan basket-tray:  $7.99
This union jack trunk would be precious in a little boys room.
I think it was only $49!
More wire organizing pieces
Such a steal!

Happy Monday!

Behind Closed Doors

It's been a long, long, long week!  We've been sick at casa de McClary and
are finally on the mend!
I'm trying to declutter and use every single square inch of space to
help out with the process.
I like using the back of the cabinet doors for items we utilize a lot!
Here's some of what lies behind closed cabinet doors....
A small dry erase board affixed with command strips to the back of a cabinet door
keeps a grocery list updated and out of view.

I've mentioned before that I don't dry clean anything.
I put delicates in laundry bags and hang to dry.
I kept losing my laundry bags though!
They would fall behind the washer or dryer or get mixed in with a
load of laundry.
A small command strip hook keeps the laundry bag in the laundry room cabinet
right where I need it.
A cork board in another cabinet
....and a heavy duty magnetic strip in the spice cabinet to hold  frequently used recipes.
Happy Weekend Everyone!
Anyone else trying to get organized like me this weekend?

Foyer and Dining Room Source Lists

Over the next few days, I'll be posting sources for
the rooms featured on the home tour and I've added a new
'Sources' page for reference to posts.
Even though I've tried to answer all the email and comment questions,
I fear I may have missed some.
If I somehow missed answering your question from a comment or
e-mail, I hope this helps.

Weekend in Review

Good Morning!
I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Ours was eventful.
Poor Beckett had another ear infection and we ended up at the Dr. on Saturday.
He's a champ though, he was already feeling better by Saturday night.
He even helped his daddy unload the dishwasher!

Chad and I did a good bit of cleaning and organizing, which I'll post more about later.
I loved the idea of making an album out of cards so much, I made one from our Christmas cards.
I truly love this!
The album rings can be found in the scrapbooking section at your local craft store.
I purchased these from Hobby Lobby
Thank you all for such kind comments about the feature on Friday.
I enjoyed reading them so much and I'm very excited to see we have some new followers,
not to mention some more great blogs for me to follow as well!
Welcome!

Happy Monday!

It's Chili Out!

I've made chili a few times this year already.
Some batches tasted better than others...I made a huge pot on Saturday
and it seemed to be a hit.
Here's what went into the pot:

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
2 cans chili beans
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can light red kidney beans
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 large can whole tomatoes (tomatoes cut into fourths)
1 box Carroll Shelby's Chili Mix
1 chopped onion
*for extra oomph sometimes I add extra chili powder and/or cayenne pepper

After browing the meat, draining the cans of beans, (but not draining the cans of tomatoes), add all ingredients to a large pot, simmer on low for about an hour.

We serve ours with cheese, sour cream, oyster crackers and saltines.......oh and don't forget the corn bread!

Ringing in the New Year

I'm baffled every single day at how fast life flies by.
Lauren and Glen brought Anna Wallace over for New Years and stayed the night.
We had a blast.  Very low key.
Chili, beer, some t.v., watching Beckett run around,
and enjoying time with 3 month old Anna.
I can't believe she's already 3 months old and that this time last year,
Beckett was nearly her age.
She's so pretty!  Such beautiful skin and eyes!

Yesterday, Beckett and I watched the game at Nonna's.
I almost thought I'd missed the window to put him in this fleece Cocky onesie, but it was
cold enough yesterday!
GO COCKS!!!

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year celebration!
Back to the old grind.
Happy Tuesday!
